I’ve been using one for a whila now and have some good tips. The most important is that most bits cut larger than their stated size. I found this out by ruining my first stock. My tip is to cut a groove in the material you are hoping to duplicate into, like walnut for me. I found that a 1/4″ router bit that I expected to cut a .25″ groove actually cut a .265″ groove. Quite a difference if you want absolute accuracy. So to overcome this, I turned a pilot out of brass to 0.266″ diameter. Did the same for the rest of the bits so that the pilot is just a little bit larger than the cut that a bit makes. I also made some square aluminum plates that I can screw to the stock being duplicated and also the blank. I then mount these through the 3/8″ holes in the rotating mounting plates. I can send pictures.

I’m going to put on some iron sites. The Williams FP AG site with the target knobs is what I’m going to try and a Lyman Globe front site. Your article was very informative except some of the pix were blanked out by PhotoBucket. I don’t use them any more.

I forget the name of a place, but any machine tool supplier should be able to provide them.

A couple of questions. Can you tell me where you found that specific collect extension from the Radarcarve review? Also, wondering where you found the stylus for the long, straight Saburr Tooth burrs?

Thanks for any help.

My name is Erik and I live in sweden,

I am thinking of starting a hobby gun stock shop here in my home town here in Sweden and a new duplicator cost way more than I can pay for a hobby,
I found the RADARCARVE setup for around 1500 us, and then I found your review from 2012, Is you still using it or did you get a new one?
Thank you for the anser and for the time.
//Erik
