The best thing I am finding out about my Comet is that the regular maintenance parts are very inexpensive, used in many other Fords, and are easy to replace. This pump and filter replacement took 15 minutes and 2 tools.

I could smell gas whenever I drove and the mileage was awful in this car. When I was changing the exhaust manifold, I noticed gas really dripping fast from the pump. The gas actually cleaned the grime off of one section of the pump where it was gushing out.

A screwdriver and socket is all you need to take it all off. Clean off the gasket mating area and put your new pump right back on!

All pretty and doubled my gas mileage!

  1. Hello, can you please tell me what fuel pump you used? (brand & #) I have a 1963 I6 170 and the fuel pump that auto parts sold me is very hard to install.
    Thanks in advanced,

    Tony
